Sullivan-Palatek Breaks Ground on New Plant

Sullivan-Palatek announced plans to relocate its current manufacturing facilities to a new state of the art 160,000 square foot building complex to be located on Route 20 near Michigan City, IN.  Currently Sullivan-Palatek occupies locations in Claremont, NH and the Pines, IN.  Both locations will be consolidated into the new 33-acre complex.  Ground breaking for the new facility took place Thursday, September 28, 2007.

“This consolidation will give us a more efficient plant operation and get us closer to our vendors and customers as well as being centrally located in order to serve our markets more efficiently,” says Steve Van Loan, Palatek’s President.  Sullivan-Palatek  designs and manufacturers a complete line of Portable Diesel Driven and Direct-Drive Rotary-Screw, Industrial Air Compressors for industrial and construction uses.

The move was made possible through the help of the Michigan City Economic Development Corporation, Indiana Economic Development Corporation and La Porte County Economic & Community Development. “This is a really great project, and we worked together as a team to convince Palatek that La Porte County is the best location,” said Jerry Cooley, County Council Chairman. Approximately 50 new jobs will be created in addition to the current employment in Indiana as well as additional requirements from suppliers of sheet metal, fasteners, steel and other equipment used in assembly and manufacturing. “Michigan City is pleased to collaborate on this project and maximize our best development potential available—the expansion of local companies and industrial clusters,” said Michigan City Mayor Chuck Oberlie.
